Evening Trials
2001
The 2001 series went very well as far as I can see (I took part), the results are as follows: -
Youth - Tony Martin (Bexleyheath)
Novice Brad Baskett (OWLS)
Intermediate - Dave Burrows (96 Trials)
Expert - Dave Shave (96 Trials)
The following is from our Press Secretary, Roger Ashby
2000 saw an experiment with our running a series of four afternoon trials at Canada Heights, when it was first muted we all wondered whether anybody would be interested. The results exceeded our wildest dreams, to the best of our knowledge all who rode had a wonderful time.
It was so successful that we will be running again on Wednesdays 13th, 20th, 27th June & 4th July (Independence rear suspension day) 2001, each event starts at 6.30 p.m. at Canada Heights, due to the type of event it has been agreed with the S.E. Centre Management Board that you can enter on the day.
The event is open to all members of clubs affiliated to the North Kent Trials Combine (NKTC) riding Solo and sidecar machines, entries open at 4.30 p.m. and close at 6.00 p.m. on each day. Cost of the event is £6.00 for 1 event, £12 for 2 events or £18 for 3, pay £18 and get last trial for free, please remember that this year we have to get a separate permit for each day.
Classes are Expert, Intermediate, Novice and Youth; sidecars will be catered for if there is a demand. Some three years ago the Sidcup Club took the decision to promote the trials side of the club with a view to expanding the trials riding membership, this is just one of the many events that the Club is running this year to facilitate this aim. The brains and the muscle behind this event are Reg Playfoot (it was his idea originally), Peter Burton recruited via the Gazette) and Dick Dickenson (who kept the trials side together for many years almost single headedly). I hope that many of you will come and enjoy what we hope will be an event with a long future. I have to repeat my thoughts of last year, "why can’t another club run a similar event", with even just one extra night it could have the makings of a popular summer series.
