Round 1 Report
Once again the Sidcup club is running it's Evening Trials series and the first round took place on Wednesday 12th June. Despite heavy rain during the day and preceding night, over 50 competitors turned out for an evening's ride. With challenging novice, intermediate and expert routes laid out, no one came away with a clean scorecard. In this mark your own trial, an easy attitude allowed competitors to rectify their mistakes on the tough parts of the sections. With the helpful assistance of the other trials riders and free tuition from Geoff Brooker there were many up and coming trials riders learning. Thanks must go to the organising team of Dick Dickenson, Peter Burton, Reg Playfoot and Lou Roberts and to Joyce Clarke for the catering.
On a personal note, as a competitor I have to thank Reg Playfoot for "sponsoring" me with a Yamaha TY250. I also have to thank my dad (Alan Clarke), Roger Brown and one of the Ely's (sorry I don't know your name) for the help/coaching they gave me as I stumbled round the sections.
Round 2 Report
Excellent weather plus the addition of a wobblers route made for a cracking trial (especially for wobblers like me).
Round 3 Report
With further changes to sections and the Geoff Brooker trails school there it was a great summers evening.
Round 4 Report
Once again the Sidcup club is running it's Evening Trials series and the first round took place on Wednesday 12th June, with an event running each week through to Wednesday 4th July. This year's series incorporated a BBQ at the end so that people could stay for all the evening light and get some food in.
With the event averaging 70 competitors per night over the last three years Sidcup has pioneered successfully the evening concept in the southeast. With six classes being run there was a full range of competitors attending including experts, intermediates, and novices with youth and sidecar classes as well.
While this was all going on Geoff Brooker organised free trails tuition, which many people took up.
In terms of results, Alan Clarke was the surprise novice winner though his consistent scores and perseverance of attendance.
Thanks must go to the organising team of Dick Dickenson, Peter Burton, Reg Playfoot and Lou Roberts and to Joyce Clarke for the catering.
