Team Woods AMC Report - By Jamie Clarke
Due to Marge recovering from being in hospital, Alan was left without a passenger. There were several volunteers and Ali Brown was chosen. Ali - who likes to try everything - has never one sidecar trials and the practise session the week preceding was cancelled due to mechanical problems. Arriving at a very wet event to find the rumour mill was in full swing to scare poor Ali off they set off after a quick practise. In a tough trial with rain all morning they almost completed one lap of the event. Along the way there were several fives and spectacular crashes but there were also cleans. Unfortunately on the last section of the first lap, disaster struck and the bike crashed (again) - unfortunately, this time the bike (in its 50th year) came off worse for ware. The frame and forks bent turning it into a right handed grass track machine. The bike then had to be disassembled to return to Clarke HQ for repairs. Several photographers and spectators were amused at the spade holding the bike up at the end - see the photos above.
