July Moto X 2001

"What Moto X!" I hear, well we still went to the Heights even though the meeting was cancelled to do a bit of gardening and other maintenance.

The July 2001 Moto - X was cancelled due to lack of first aid cover.

The following is a press release from out press secretary

“It is with some embarrassment that I have to apologise to everyone who may have been inconvenienced by the cancellation of the Sidcup Moto Cross that was due to take place on Sunday 1st July. The club was informed by the Red Cross during the week preceding the event that they would be unable to supply any first aid or ambulance cover for the event, this despite agreeing a 12 month programme with the Red Cross at the start of the year. It is understood that as a result of rescheduling of events in Kent subsequent to relaxation of foot & mouth regulations there are many more calls for attendance by the Red Cross and for some reason as yet unknown a decision was taken not to attend Canada Heights. It is believed that the problem may have been exacerbated by a lack of new volunteers to this valuable organisation. Club secretary Margie Clark spent a frustrating week trying to seek alternative cover from both St John's Ambulance and the private sector, all to no avail. Again I can only apologise on behalf of the Club for any inconvenience caused.”

Some people arrive and are told the sad news.
