Report - Jamie Clarke
On the 6th of October the much-hyped Sidcup 30 arrived. Most of us had no idea what kind of event this meeting was going to be. I have to admit we were all pleasantly surprised by this superb event. When we got there were about 25 or so experts of all degrees of skill. Some were really top experts, while others were your "normal" experts, and then there were a lot of youth riders and there was even a brave sole on a Twinshock trials bike. There were two routes set out, a "normal" expert route and a super hard expert route.
The spectator experience was something you don't often get at trials and it has had all those who were there coming away with warm words to say. A crowd of around 50 or so people followed the top experts round on the first lap. It was really incredible to watch them all look at how to tackle the obstacles, which were quite scary in my (wobblers) eyes. At each section a major item was encountered, be it a huge tree stump to be jumped, "fingers" of concrete with gaps in, an almost vertical concrete wall, etc, etc.
This trial fostered an unusual atmosphere where everyone was helping each other decide how to tackle the obstacles and helping each other do them (this included being there to catch people if they fell!). At the end of the day everyone was full of praise and those that were there all had a great time. All the sections were completed but no one got round for a clean. Unfortunately a lot of people missed out on this great trial due to it clashing with the Red Rose - next year it is proposed to get a free date so more experts can come and have a great trial. Without a shadow of doubt a lot of thanks and appreciation must go to Reg Playfoot for putting well over a years worth of work into this trial. Thanks also to Regs helpers who helped him achieve this spectacular trial. Thanks also to the observers who were brave and confident enough to cope with the two different mark schemes.
This was a truly great trial that those who missed it have missed out on something great.

A full mark breakdown is avalible here.
Introduced this year - this will be a challenging Trial for the best solo riders of southern England. Sections specially built of rocks and tree trunks and some dug into the ground will test them to the limit!
This will be our first atempt at runing an all expert trial. Reg Playfoot has spent the past year and a half making some monster sections that little old wobbler me is scarred to look at.
