Sunday 19th of January saw the first round of the South Eastern Centre Trials Championship for Experts, Intermediates, Novices, Sidecars, Pre-67 sidecars, Twinshocks, Pre - 67 A, Pre - 67 B, Pre - 67 C and Pre - 67 Two strokes visit Canada Heights. The 20 sections took place over the wide range of terrain "the Heights" had to offer. With the heavy rain the previous night it was a real muddy adventure.
Julian Harvey won the expert class and the Young's cup for the second time, having last won in 1999. The previously mentioned muddy conditions played into the hands of the Modern Sidecars whose top 3 beat the best novice despite riding the same route.
The club would like to thank all the observers, the people who wet out and took down the sections and all the officials on the day for a great trail. The next trial at Canada Heights will be the Sidcup 30 trial, a trail for super experts, experts, and youth A.

Well here we are again another brilliant fantastic trial laid out buy the bexleyheath club sorry i mean the "Sidcup"
WHAT A TRIAL, The day started out very overcast with constent rain beating down on canada heights making the terain very different from the sunday before(simmons cup).Ed and Cliff both chose not to ride because the sidcup sixty has a reputation of being a hard trial(are they both gay or what!!)It was two laps of twenty sections with a break in between which gave people the chance to eat and refuel.Section one was right over in the corner of the woods by the motorway embankment which was being marshald by Lou roberts,it was a nice easy section to get you walmed up for the other nineteen.
Sections 2,3 & 4 were also quite easy with not much to say about but then came section five. This was being marshald by Jon Sturdey which consisted of jumping through trees and over logs,Great something challenging at last.I managed to get to the last set of markers for a clean only for the bike to stall on me,i was trying to hard and thats when you make stupid mistakes, never mind!. I had a look at the white route which ended up going through a set of trees you could just pass a Nats Nacker through, which in my oppinion is totally pointless.I watched Gavin Cooper ride the section and also Mark Baker both riders cleaned the main part of the section which was a good ride in its self only to find themselves getting to the last part and having to Drag there bikes through the trees because it just was not rideable.I ASK WHAT IS THE POINT!.
Section seven was really tricky and would have taken a miricle to have cleaned it,I think my best result was a two on the first lap but fived it on the second lap on the slipery log,got it totally wrong and ended up headbutting the handle bars. There was some major stackups from the whites,i won`nt name the riders but quite a few went arse over tit on the final large log,AND I GOT MOST OF IT ON VT.HA HA.
It was good to see Ian & Tony Martin out on section 11 which was deffinatly the best section of the day which had the man made log steps which both inters and experts had to ride straight up.Second lap i was told by Ian that Gary Roberts had fived it,O What a shame do`nt like to hear that i said, that made me try all the harder to clean it but only managed a two.Section 14 caused a lot of problems for the riders,i called this section "i think i have just crushed my foot no its all right its just my crankcase"Bloody hard section for the blues with very tight turns on a tricky camber with jagged slipery rocks sticking out everywhere.I hated this section as much as i hated it the week before only difference was we were riding it in the opposite dirrection.
The rest of the trial was just brilliant with really testing slippery muddy sections which were layed out just right.I know when you have put in so much hard work to lay out a trial on a piece of land like canada heights with terain that changes overnight with just a wisper of rain,is bloody hard work.Apart from the Tree"I NEED A TYRE LEVER TO GET THROUGH"sections it was a very good day.
Big thankyou goes out to Dick Lou & Gary and the rest of the sidcup who made this trial happen....many thanks

Incase you were wondering the event is named after a trial from days of old when the bike were road legal and went between sections on road, and you gussed it it was 60 miles long.
