The November Clearing Up Day
Saturday 8th November 2003
Closed to Club Social, MX Practice and Trial
Club members clear ropes, stakes, etc. from the track in readiness for the bulldozers to work over the winter. When done, those who help have the rest of daylight hours to ride the MX track for practice. After dark, we have a barbecue and fireworks display.
An absolutely brilliant event. Lots of work was done, notable moving stuff out of the damaged "blue" container to the new "orange" one. The stakes were cleared up, a lot of chestnut fencing was put up, some other jobs were done but notable there was a photoshoot for some fashion magazine (see Peter Burrell's photos). At about midday there was a rider briefing and the the MX practice started on the mx track while the trial took place on the washboard hill set of sections. Michael Nutbrown did an excellent job of setting out two route over about 5 sections. Several riders of all ages took part (including me) and it was great fun. Riding stopped at 4pm by which time everyone was had had a great days riding. The traditional BBQ was run as ever by Jack Pringle, while Barb Playfoot looked after the Mulled Wine. A great weekend was had by all.
While I'm writing I must also thank my sponsor, Mr Roger Brown for the loan of his trials bike and Michael Nutbrown for laying out some excellent sections.
