The Woods AMC Gallery
This page is about the various bikes used by the Clarkes. The main bike used is an old 1952 AMC road bike, converted to trials with a sidecar. It was owned by Timber Woods, who let his daughter (Marge Clarke) and son in law (Alan Clarke), restore it and ride it and he left it to me (Jamie Clarke) when he passed away. It goes out rarely, but is normally seen at the Jack Thompson British Bike Trial in December at Canada Heights and at the Talmag Trophy Trial at Hungary Hill in Aldershot. Recently a new sidecar has been added (old one in the picture below) and performance has improved. The crew have won, with much surprise (huge sarcasm) the Sidcup club’s sidecar trial trophy every year (except 1989) sine the trophy was started (in 1985) although some of these were done with a modern bike when they were doing British Championship trials. Now this is old, back in the good old days (pre the 90's) Alan and Marge used to ride a Suzuki sidecar outfit. It looks like Peter's Pit near Wouldham and Burham in Kent.
Here are the crew at a round of the British Sidecar Trials Championship in Yorkshire on their Montessa. Notice the rock - you don't get that down here.
