Lagoon

There have been water problem in the Button Street Valley for as long as we can all remember, and finally Sevenoaks District Council has got all the landowners and residents together to find a solution to the problem. All the landowners involved are carrying out work to hold back the water and silt.

The club has installed some temporary measures to alleviate the problem pending the construction of a long term solution. Beside the main road two pit have been built, where water is stored and allowed to evaporate (we've even used it to water the track) - also the silt is trapped. Then a trench has been dug along the Bottom Car Park Field with small pits to hold back water a silt.

In the long term we are planning to build a lagoon in the middle of track in the area known as "Bill Sticker bend" on track maps. This is the hairpin bend after the steps table top before the hill going to Colditz (the commentary tower). The track will be diverted after the table top to go straight up the hill. The lagoon will be built in the area left by the track no being there. However the proposed lagoon's location will be in Dartford District Council so we have had to apply for planning permission from them - which was granted on the condition of it being granted is an archeological dig (paid for by the club).

So to show you where the club members money is going here is a brief photo gallery of the dig.
